Ziel war es, die strukturelle Anisotropie kristallinen Gebirges differenzierter abzubilden und damit eine verbesserte Grundlage für numerische Integritätsanalysen im Kontext der Endlagerung radioaktiver Abfälle bereitzustellen. Das BARIK-Stoffmodell kombiniert eine orthotrope Elastizitätsformulierung mit einem Hoek-Brown-Kriterium für die Gesteinsmatrix bzw. einen homogenisierten Gebirgsbereich sowie Mohr-Coulomb-Kriterien mit Tension-Cut-off für orientierte Schwächeflächensysteme. Das Stoffmodell wurde parallel in FLAC3D und OpenGeoSys/MFront implementiert und anhand von analytischen Lösungen, Referenzmodellen sowie ausgewählten Laborversuchen an Freiberger Gneis verifiziert und validiert. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die wesentlichen Modellkomponenten korrekt umgesetzt wurden und das Modell den charakteristischen orientierungsabhängigen Festigkeitsverlauf des untersuchten Gesteins grundsätzlich abbilden kann. Das BARIK-Stoffmodell stellt gegenüber rein homogenisierten Ansätzen einen methodischen Fortschritt dar.In the BARIK research project, an enhanced three-dimensional constitutive model was developed to describe the mechanical and hydro-mechanical behaviour of fractured crystalline host rocks. The aim was to represent the structural anisotropy of crystalline rock masses in greater detail and thereby to provide an improved basis for numerical integrity analyses in the context of radioactive waste disposal. The BARIK constitutive model combines an orthotropic elasticity formulation with a Hoek-Brown criterion for the rock matrix or a homogenised rock mass, together with Mohr-Coulomb criteria with a Tension-Cut-off for oriented weakness-plane systems. The constitutive model was implemented in parallel in FLAC3D and OpenGeoSys/MFront and verified and validated against analytical solutions, reference models, and selected laboratory tests on Freiberg gneiss. The results show that the essential model components were implemented correctly and that the model is able to reproduce the characteristic orientation-dependent strength behaviour of the rock investigated. The BARIK constitutive model thus provides an extended tool for the mechanical and hydro-mechanical evaluation of anisotropic, fractured crystalline rock masses. The findings emphasize that the size of inventories is crucial; a lean-inventory system leads to faster shock propagation, higher losses, and fewer recoveries compared to an abundant-inventory system. Additionally, the study identifies that the number and criticality of flooded companies' trade links, along with the magnitude of the flood, correlate with the speed and severity of contagion. Interestingly, a key metric -the average criticality of affected firms' outgoing links- consistently peaks before the shock's propagation enters a fast-paced contagion regime. This could serve as an early warning indicator, giving businesses and policymakers precious time to react.
